Dubai Business

One of the things that I personally liked about being in Dubai was the shopping malls.  I guess you could say that I am still your typical guy, but when I go to another country I am a typical American.   And you know, I think whether you are a guy or gal, we all love shopping malls.  Now the idea that you get from a Dubai business is that it is always going to be super expensive and super opulent, regardless of what it is.  At least that is what I thought, going in.  But I have to say after having done the shopping circuit there that you still find Dubai's Mall that will give you a good deal.  Of course, as a tourist, you love the spectacle that a Dubai shopping experience offers, but when it really comes down to it, its no fun if you don't get yourself a good deal. 

One of the things, I really liked is that Dubai makes it easy to shop.  And you know what I mean if you are a true shopper ( I like clothes and electronics). The malls are all easy to get to and they are in abundance around the city. The first site I hit was the Deira City Centre which according to pamphlets and brochures is the biggest and baddest shopping and entertainment complexes like it in the country (some would say in the entire Middle East, which is saying something).  I am not so sure I agree with those claims but that is beside the point.  Deira City Center has over 800,000 square meters of shopping space and 250 stores.  (One thing they seem to brag about is the number of cars it can hold but to be quite honest that is not so impressive).  The think that I liked was the extended shopping hours, now THAT is what I am talking about.

The one thing that everybody has to do when they go to Deira City Center is the Carrefour Hypermarket.  Again it too is said to be the largest shop of its kind in the Gulf (are you starting to recognize a pattern here).  The stores around it all have an eclectic mix of things in them.  My wife liked these little stores (they made my eyes water) because they had lots of little specialty stores all which sold different stuff: designer clothes, shoes, jeans, tops. Thankfully there were some electronics stores (Phew!)..vacation argument averted.

The next day after we had hit the beach, we went to the Wafi Mall. 

Wafi Mall offers some of the best opportunities for shopping and entertainment. BurJuman centre, in the heart of Dubai is the destination for shopping for affluent nationals as well as expatriates and their families.
